She is the daughter of actress June Lockhart and granddaughter of actor Gene Lockhart. Lockhart started her acting career early. She made her debut in the age of four in T is for Tumbleweed. Her initial reaction was to decline the role since the character did not seem strong. Afterward, Glen made a different part just for her with a much stronger character named Sheba. After reading the first 250 pages of The Living Legend she accepted instantly. The show ran for a single season. The actress co-starred on Joyride alongside Desi Arnaz Jr., Melanie Griffith (the daughter of Desi Arnaz Jr. and Lucille Bell), Robert Carradine and Melanie Griffith in 1977 and in The Dark Tower with Michael Moriarty (1987).
