Simone Biles
Simone Arianne Biles (/sI'moUn 'baI@lz/; born March 14, 1997)[4] is an American artistic gymnast. Biles tied Shannon Miller for the number of Olympic medals she won in American gymnastics, and is currently ranked ninth in the world for the most medals. With 25 World Championship medals won, Biles is the highest-ranked gymnast from the history of the Gymnastics World Championships. Many believe that she may be the greatest gymnast of all time. Joe Biden presented Biles with the Presidential Medal of Freedom 2022. At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Biles took home individual gold medals for the vault, all-around and floor; bronze medals on balance beam; and gold as part of the United States team, dubbed the "Final Five".At the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo Biles was a participant. Biles was favored to take home at minimum 4 of the 6 gold medals. She was forced to withdraw from most of the competition due to struggles with "the twisties" which is a temporary loss of air balance awareness. Biles was awarded silver for the US team, and a bronze medal in the balance beam. She was praised for the partial withdrawal she made, her perseverance and focus on the safety of her mental and physical health. The athlete is also five time World all-around champion (2013-15, 2018-19) and five times World floor exercise champion (2013)-2015 and 2018-2019) and three times World balance beam champion (2014)-2015 and 2019,) Two times World vault champion (2018) and was on the gold-winning American teams at the four World Artistic Gymnastics Championships (2014 2015, 2014, 2018, 2018 and 2019). She also is a three time World silver medalist (2013, 2014 on vault, 2018-2019 on uneven bars, 2018-2019 on uneven) as well as a three-time World bronze medalist (1915 on vault and balance beam in 2013 and 2018-2019 on balance beam).
Biles is the gymnast who won the most World gold medals (19) and World medals (25) in the world. She also surpasses Vitaly Scherbo's record of 23 World medals. Biles won her 24th- and 25th place with gold medals at Stuttgart's competition in 2019. Biles is the female gymnast who has won the most World all-around title (5). She is the sixth female to be awarded both an individual and a team title in the Olympics or World Championships. Biles is the tenth and first American female gymnasts to win a World medal in every event. This feat was achieved during the 2018 World Championships. Biles was born on 14 March, 1997 in Columbus, Ohio. She is the third of her four siblings. Shanon Biles, her birth mother, couldn't care for Simone and her other kids, Adria, Ashley, or Tevin. The four children were all put in foster care. In the year 2000, Biles' maternal grandfather, Ron Biles, and his second wife, Nellie Cayetano Biles,began temporarily caring for Shanon's kids in the north Houston suburb of Spring, Texas, after discovering that his grandchildren had been in foster care. They took in Simone and Adria, her younger sister in 2003. Shanon's aunt is Ron's sister. Harriet has adopted the two oldest children Biles has Belizean citizenship through her adoptive mother and calls Belize as her second home. Biles and her family are Catholic.
